Examples
Interval training
Record each lap of a run with the Lap button; the list shows each lap's time and the running total.
Timing a task
Start the stopwatch, switch to your work in another tab, and come back — the elapsed time stays accurate.
How it keeps accurate time
The stopwatch records the moment you press Start using your device's high-resolution clock and calculates elapsed time from that, rather than counting ticks. Browsers slow down background tabs, but the measured time doesn't drift.
The display updates about 30 times a second and shows hundredths of a second. Nothing is stored on a server; refreshing the page clears it.
Frequently asked questions
Does it keep running if I switch tabs or lock my phone?
The time is measured from when you pressed Start, so it's correct when you come back. Some phones suspend pages entirely after a long time in the background.
What's the difference between lap and split time?
Lap time is the duration of one lap; split time is the total elapsed time when the lap was recorded. The list shows both.
Are there keyboard shortcuts?
Space starts and pauses, L records a lap and R resets while paused.
