How exact age is calculated

Age is counted in whole calendar years first, then whole months, then remaining days — the same way you'd count on a calendar. If the day of the month hasn't been reached yet, the last month isn't complete.

Total days lived is the exact number of days between the two dates, including every leap day.

Frequently asked questions

How is age calculated for people born on February 29?

In common years, this calculator treats March 1 as the birthday, which is the legal convention in many places. Some people celebrate on February 28 instead.

Why does my age in months differ from years × 12?

Total months adds the extra whole months since your last birthday. At 36 years and 4 months, you have lived 436 full months.

Is my birth date stored?

No. The calculation runs in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.
