How to use it
- Pick a start date and an end date. They can be in either order.
- Tick “Include end date” if both the first and last day should count, as for a hotel stay versus an event run.
- Read the total days and the breakdown into weeks, months and business days.
Examples
A calendar year
January 1 to December 31 of 2026 is 364 days, or 365 days if you include the end date.
Project length
March 2 to June 15, 2026 is 105 days: 15 weeks exactly, 3 months and 13 days, with 76 business days if you count both ends.
How days are counted
The calculator counts the number of midnights between the two dates. By default the start date is counted and the end date is not, so Monday to Tuesday is 1 day. Including the end date adds one.
The months-and-days breakdown uses calendar months, so it lines up with how people describe durations (“3 months and 13 days”). Business days count Monday to Friday and do not remove public holidays; use the business days calculator to exclude specific holidays.
Frequently asked questions
Should I include the end date?
Include it when every day in the range counts, like the number of days in a vacation (Monday to Friday is 5 days). Leave it off for elapsed time, like the days until a deadline.
Are leap years included?
Yes. Dates are handled with the real calendar, so February 29 is counted in leap years like 2028.
Why is the number of months not simply days ÷ 30?
Months have 28 to 31 days, so dividing by 30 drifts. The breakdown counts whole calendar months first and shows the remaining days.
