Examples
Pick a winner
With 1 to 250 and a count of 1, each of 250 entries has exactly the same 1-in-250 chance.
Lottery-style picks
Set 1 to 49, count 6, no repeats and sorted to get six different numbers in order.
How the numbers are generated
Numbers come from crypto.getRandomValues, the browser's cryptographically secure random source — the same one used for encryption keys. They are not predictable from earlier results.
Rejection sampling removes “modulo bias”, a subtle flaw in naive generators that makes some numbers slightly more likely than others. Here every value in the range has exactly equal probability.
Frequently asked questions
Are the numbers truly random?
They are cryptographically secure pseudo-random numbers seeded by your operating system's entropy sources. For practical purposes, including prize draws, they are unpredictable and uniform.
Is the maximum included?
Yes. Both the minimum and maximum can be drawn. 1 to 6 behaves exactly like a fair die.
Why can't I get 10 unique numbers from 1 to 5?
There are only five different values in that range. With “no repeats”, the count can't exceed the size of the range.
