Examples
Profile picture
Resize a 3024 × 4032 photo to 600 pixels wide and it becomes 600 × 800 with the aspect ratio kept — typically a tiny fraction of the original file size.
Halving a screenshot
Choose 50% to turn a 2880 × 1800 screenshot into 1440 × 900 for sharing in documents.
How resizing works
The image is redrawn at the new size using your browser's high-quality smoothing. Shrinking an image works well; enlarging it can't add detail, so enlarged images look softer.
With the aspect ratio locked, changing one dimension recalculates the other so the picture isn't stretched.
new height = new width × original height ÷ original width
Frequently asked questions
Does resizing reduce file size?
Yes, usually dramatically. Halving both dimensions leaves a quarter of the pixels, so the file typically shrinks to roughly a quarter or less.
Is there a maximum size?
Very large outputs (over about 16,000 pixels on a side) may exceed browser limits, especially on phones. The tool keeps output within safe limits.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Resizing happens on your device and nothing is sent to a server.
